At the European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad which took place in Luxembourg this year, Serbian mathematicians won the first place, sharing the title with teams of Belarus and United States of America.
Serbian team consisted of three students of Belgrade’s Mathematics high school and one student from high school “Svetozara Marković” from Nis, and they all won medals.
Andjela Sarkovic, student of “Svetozar Marković” high school won gold, Marijana Vujadinovic and Tamara Sekularac silver while Jelena Trisovic won bronze medal.
Teams from 22 countries took part at the Mathematical Olympiad in Luxembourg.
The European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad is an international mathematics competition similar in style to the International Mathematical Olympiad, with two papers taken on consecutive days. Participating countries send teams consisting of their strongest four female mathematicians of school age.
