Liverpool forward Luis Suarez has been suspended for ten games by the FA for biting Chelsea defender Bane Ivanovic during the game.
Liverpool FC immediately released a statement saying it was “shocked and disappointed at the severity” of the Football Association’s punishment, decided by an independent regulatory commission.
After the match Luis Suarez has apologised for his “inexcusable behaviour”.
“I’m sad for what happened this afternoon. I apologise Ivanovic and all football world for my inexcusable behaviour. I’m so sorry about it,” said Suarez on his official Twitter account.
The Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic has not accepted an apology from Luis Suarez.
